The Faber cable calculator application is a professional, cost-free tool designed to support electrical installers and planners in their daily tasks. Suitable for use both on-site and in office environments, it enables users to quickly, accurately, and easily determine cable diameters, provided there is an active internet connection.

What are the capabilities of the Faber cable calculator application?

The application facilitates straightforward calculations for the dimensioning of cable diameters. By inputting parameters such as:

<li>Electrical power or rating</li>
<li>Cos phi (power factor)</li>
<li>Installation length or distance</li>
</ul>

users receive recommendations for the necessary cable diameter for both copper and aluminium cables. The tool considers common cable designs and various installation scenarios—including underground (direct burial or conduit/duct), and building-internal installations (mounted on walls, embedded in walls, in air, installed in cable trays). The results are presented in a list format with corresponding Faber article numbers and are linked directly to detailed product pages. Additionally, users can email the results to any desired address.

How does the application operate?

Upon launching the app, users should first configure the basic settings, which include:

<li>Nominal voltage</li>
<li>Maximum permissible voltage drop (additional standards may need consideration)</li>
<li>Power factor (cos phi)</li>
<li>Power output in kilowatts or current in amperes</li>
<li>Cable run length</li>
</ul>

Next, the user specifies the installation type:

<li>Direct underground burial</li>
<li>Underground (conduit or duct, installation type D)</li>
<li>Building installation (mounted on/on walls, types A1 to C)</li>
<li>Building installation in air (types E to G)</li>
</ul>

If relevant, optional parameters such as load factor (e.g., 0.7 or 1), number of circuits, ambient temperature, or installation gap can be adjusted based on specific conditions.

The "Calculate" function retrieves a list of Faber products that meet the specified criteria. Each product page is accessible directly within the app. The resulting list can be forwarded via email.

Note: If input parameters result in implausible outputs—such as excessively high power ratings or impossible cable lengths—an error message will prompt users to adjust their inputs, such as halving power values to suggest parallel connection options.
